Vertical farming through aeroponics gives us the opportunity to grow larger amounts of produce in the smallest of spaces, inside and out.
Using Vertical Aeroponic Farming Technology to Help All of Humanity
As our supply of farmland and fresh water grows scarce, the human population soars. If we don’t pursue more efficient, sustainable farming methods, we will soon face global food and water shortages. Fortunately there is a solution: vertical aeroponics — the soil-free growing technology that powers EcoTower.
Aeroponics is the process of growing plants in an air or mist environment without the use of soil. The word “aeroponic” is derived from the Greek meanings of aer (air) and ponos (labour). Unlike hydroponics, which uses a liquid nutrient solution as a growing medium and essential minerals to sustain plant growth, or aquaponics, which uses water and fish waste, aeroponics is conducted without a growing medium.
What can you grow with EcoTower
Anything, in theory. In practice, aeroponics systems are primarily used for the same applications as hydroponics systems, including leafy greens, culinary herbs, marijuana, strawberries, tomatoes, and cucumbers. One exception is root crops, which are impractical in a hydroponic system, but well-suited to aeroponics, as the roots have plenty of room to grow and are easily accessible for harvesting.
